In early 2008, Larissa Strauss was commissioned by the docents of the Museum of Ventura County to create a timeline of the history of Ventura County in mosaic, as part of the renovation and expansion of the museum.

The mosaic depicts the Chumash period and their first contact with explorers, the Mission period, the Rancho period, agricultural and transportation development, World War II in Port Hueneme and finally Channel Islands National Park.

The work on the mosaic mural took over a year to complete and is presently installed at the Museum of Ventura County, on Main St. in downtown Ventura.
