WAV artist/actress Vonder Gray played the part of a PhD who unfortunately ends up on the street selling her collectibles to make a living in today’s harsh environment. She doesn’t take charity donations, but will read Shakespeare in exchange, to the occasional passerby who recognizes her talent and intelligence. Often those attentive listeners are her own pets, Ophelia and Hamlet.
The Vendor is a 30 minute play, coming from the creative mind and talent of WAV artist and writer Frances Spencer. The play was directed by Leslie Paxton and excellently portrayed by Vonder.
Four performances graced the WAV community space that became a theater for a few night’s enjoyment and education. The play was part of Vonder’s Woman in Art exhibit for the month of May 2015.
“This is to extend my thanks again to actress Vonder Gray for breathing life into the character of The Vendor and making it her own; with special thanks to Leslie Paxton of Ojai for directing, to Sarah Kalvin for assisting with lighting, and to WAV friends who came to see my play.” Frances Spencer
